Given the lower projected enrolment of students at Marysville Public School for the next school year, beginning September 2024, Marysville Public School will transition to a single classroom model for all students in Kindergarten to Grade 8.

We appreciate this is a change for both students and families, but with change comes opportunity. A single classroom learning environment can be a hub of creativity, exploration, and growth. Older students will have the chance to guide and mentor their younger peers and the teacher will tailor curriculum instruction to meet each student’s needs, pace, and abilities.

With the announcement of these changes, we also want to provide you with options for your student(s) to continue attending Marysville Public School, or to attend other schools within the board. There are several options available for your family to consider for the 2024-25 school year:

1. Choose to continue to send your student to Marysville Public School.

2. Choose to send your student entering JK, SK, or Grade 1 to French Immersion at Rideau Public School (late start at 9:05 a.m.) with school bus transportation provided.

3. Choose to send your student entering Grade 7 to Late French Immersion at Module Vanier (early start at 8:20 a.m.) with school bus transportation provided.

4. Choose to send your student entering JK-8 to Molly Brant Elementary School (early start at 8:20 a.m.) with school bus transportation provided.

5. Choose to send your student entering JK-8 to Central Public School (late start at 9:00 a.m.) with school bus transportation provided.

6. Select another Limestone District School Board school of choice and provide your own transportation for your student to get to and from school.

Our staff and school board are dedicated to ensuring a smooth adjustment for every student. We continue to be committed to providing a nurturing and enriching learning experience for students and sustaining the positive and collaborative learning environment that exists at Marysville Public School.

Thank you for being an essential part of our school community. We will be hosting an information session at Marysville Public School for families on April 30, 2024, at 6:30 p.m., and are happy to listen to any feedback or concerns that you have about this change and answer any questions about the options available for your student(s). There will also be a public meeting at Marysville Public School on May 6, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. to outline the change.
