Principal's Message

June 2018
Dear Marysville Families,

As another year at Marysville starts to wind down, there are a few pieces of information regarding next year, which have been shared with School Council and staff, and which I want to share with all families. Most importantly, the Board has assured us that we will have 2 classrooms again next year, which is great news for students, families and staff. We will continue to operate a k-3 classroom and a 4-8 classroom, which also means that our staffing will not change. The other important news has to do with administration. The Board has de-twinned Marysville from Rideau PS, and has twinned it with Central PS/Sydenham PS. That means that next year Marysville will have a new admin team, Mrs. Jen Lawless as Principal and Mr. Colin Skinner as VP. I’m sure you will join me in welcoming them, and in making them feel as much a part of the community as you have done for me over the past two years.

I want to thank all the Marysville families, students and staff for all of your support and kindness over my two years as Principal. It seems like a very short time, and I am sad to have to say goodbye. I have been consistently impressed and amazed at the work that goes on in such a small school to make such a big difference in the lives of the students. It is a wonderful collaboration between staff and families, and I know that will continue into the future. Mrs. Lawless and Mr. Skinner are very fortunate to be coming to such a great school. I will miss Marysville very much.

But school is not over yet! We have a lot of exciting events planned in June, from Track and Field, to our Family Fun Night, to Graduation, and many other special events and days. Students will be busy all month, wrapping up academic units, finishing projects, and celebrating the learning that has happened this year. We are all proud of their accomplishments, and love to see all their hard work pay off in June.

Thank you for the feedback that you have provided to the school and to me over the past two years. It is very important in helping us set directions and evaluate the opportunities we provide for the students. Please continue to connect with the school, at 613-385-2632, or email You can also stay connected by following us on Twitter @Marys_LDSB or online at . Have a safe and happy summer!
