Marysville Memo
September 2020
Dear MPS families,
It's been one week since we've had everyone back together at Marysville! Our staggered entry allowed us to practice our new routines and safety protocols in smaller groups. Thank you to our families for all the work you did in preparing your children at home - they are doing great!
September is always a busy time, and a lot of information is coming home. We try to make our communications with families as effective as possible. All email communication will be done through School Messenger this year, so please ensure that we have your correct email address on file at school. Our website: https://marysville.limestone.on.ca/home also has our newsletters, school calendar, and other helpful information. Twitter is another way to keep up with what's happening at Marysville. Follow us @Marys_LDSB . Of course you are always welcome to contact us through email at mailto:marys@limestone.on.ca or by calling the school at 613-385-2632. Thank you for your continued support!
Screen your child every day!

A few more reminders
Clothing
Classes will continue to take learning outdoors as much as possible this fall in order to increase distancing and allow for a mask break, if needed. Please make sure that students are dressed for the weather, including a jacket as necessary. Light rain will likely not keep us indoors as it may have in the past, so a raincoat/boots may be a good idea on certain days.
Water Bottle
Please remember to send a water bottle each day to school. The water refill station is available for use.
Indoor shoes
As cubbies are now arranged in family pod groupings, students are now asked to bring a pair of indoor shoes, preferably a running shoe, that can be left at school.
Boom-a-rang Lunch
Marysville will continue with its boom-a-rang lunch this year. Leftover or untouched food items will go home at the end of the day. Students will be able to rinse containers (yogurt, pudding, etc.) in order to minimize any mess. There is a compost available in each lunch room for fruit peels, apple cores, etc.
Insuremykids® student accident insurance forms will be sent home Sept 17 with students, one per family.

Orange Shirt Day - Sept 30
Students are encouraged to wear an orange shirt to school on Sept 30th as we come together in the spirit of reconciliation and hope because every child matters.
Orange Shirt Day is a day for Indigenous and non-Indigenous People to come together in the spirit of hope and reconciliation to honour former residential school students whose families and communities have been impacted by the policies and actions of the Government of Canada and the churches that operated the schools.
MPS Terry Fox Run - Oct 1
This year marks the 40th anniversary of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope. Marysville is excited to once again be participating in this event and to help raise awareness and support for cancer research. Online donations are strongly encouraged this year in order to reduce contacts, and can be made at http://www.terryfox.ca/MarysvillePSWolfeIsland. We have set a fundraising goal of $200.
