Marysville Memo
OCTOBER UPDATE
Message from Admin
Dear MPS School Families,
We hope this message finds you all in good health and high spirits as we welcome the beautiful month of October. It's been an incredible journey to see our students adapt and grow in the first few weeks of the school year, and we want to express our gratitude and thanks to all of you for your support and partnership.
A big thank you to our amazing MPS staff for hosting our annual Fall Open House. It is wonderful having parents and families into the school to see firsthand the amazing things that are happening at MPS!
We value the active involvement of parents in our school community. If you are interested in volunteering or participating in the School Advisory Council (SAC), please reach out to the school and we can share how you can get involved.
Thank you for entrusting us with the education and growth of your children. Together, we will continue to create a safe, nurturing, and inspiring environment where every child can thrive.
Wishing you all a fantastic October filled with learning, laughter, and lasting memories.
Your partners in education,
Mrs. MacDonald, Mr. Wood, Ms. Barrett and the MPS Team

QUICK FACTS ABOUT VISION:
- 1 in 4 children may have a vision problem that can impact their learning.
- Annual eye exams with an optometrist are free for children with an Ontario Health Card. However, fewer than half of children have an eye exam before age 5.
- Treatment for amblyopia or “lazy eye” (which can lead to permanent vision loss) is most effective if it begins before age 7.
- Children in JK and SK can get free glasses through the “Eye See, Eye Learn” Program.

SCHOOL MESSENGER APP
Why Use the SchoolMessenger App?
When you join SchoolMessenger, you will be able to:
- receive important information from LDSB
- join classrooms and extra-curricular groups
- report a student's absence (same day and in advance)
Reporting A Student's Absence:
If your student is marked absent and the absence hasn’t been reported in advance, our new SafeArrival system will attempt to reach the student’s priority contact by telephone to confirm the absence. If our system is unable to reach the designated contacts, school office staff will follow up.
